The 5 types of collagen in NoordeCode Complete Collagen

Collagen is a protein found in many different parts of the body. Collagen in skin is different from that in cartilage, blood vessels, or bones. The amino acid composition, structure, and function differ for each type of collagen. 

At least 26 types of collagen have been defined. The most common are:

Type I collagen is the most abundant collagen in the body, found mainly in skin, hair, nails, bones and ligaments.

Type II collagen is mainly found in cartilage between joints.

Type III collagen is common, along with type I, in the skin and blood vessels.

Type IV collagen is crucial for the formation of basal membranes, a specific type of thin layer that separates cells from underlying structures.

Type V collagen is found in the skin and placenta and co-occurs with type I.

Type X collagen is part of the bone and cartilage structure.

Each type of collagen contains slightly different amino acids. So it is a good strategy to take different types of collagen if you want to support your own collagen production in different areas.

Collagen varies not only in types but also between animal species. Fish, egg and bovine are excellent sources of collagen. We have used them for Complete Collagen to get a broad collagen profile, and because of their sustainable origin.

Collagen from the skin of grass-fed cattle

The basis of NoordCode Complete Collagen is grass-fed bovine collagen hydrolysate. This collagen hydrolysate is also available separately as NoordCode Pure Collagen. The collagen is extracted from the skin of European cattle that eat grass daily.

Naticol® Collagen and type II collagen from sustainable fish

Fish has a different amino acid profile compared to bovine collagen, making it a good addition to your collagen intake.

Naticol® is a pure collagen hydrolysate made from leftover fish skins after filleting. The fish skins come from sustainable, wild-caught and farmed fish, to use as many different sources as possible. Naticol® thus turns a 'waste product' into a high-quality collagen supplement. Naticol® holds MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) and Friends of the Sea certifications, which certify that its fish and seafood come from sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.

Ovomet® collagen from eggshell membranes

The eggshell membrane is the thin membrane directly under the eggshell. This membrane contains collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, glucosamine, and chondroitin. These substances are also common in our skin. The eggshell membrane is therefore an excellent source of these substances. 

Ovomet® eggshell membrane is undenatured. It retains its native structure and naturally occurring matrix of collagen, elastin, glycosaminoglycans, and other bioactive compounds. To preserve the integrity of these compounds, Ovomet® is produced using a gentle, low-temperature process.

125 mg Vitamin C from Acerola berries

The body uses vitamin C to produce collagen. NoordCode Complete Collagen, therefore, contains 125 mg of vitamin C from acerola berries per serving (15 g). Acerola berries are a natural source of vitamin C.

Vitamin C supports normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, blood vessels, bones & cartilage, teeth & gums.

7 grams of glycine per serving

The amino acid glycine is one of the main components of collagen. Many people, therefore, take a collagen supplement as a natural source of glycine. NoordCode further enhances Complete Collagen with L-glycine. Each 15-gram serving provides 7 grams of glycine, with 5 grams added.

Fill a measuring scoop to the ¾ mark (15 g). Mix this with 100-200 ml of cold liquid.

Complete Collagen is minimally processed to preserve the natural characteristics of its ingredients, including their distinctive taste and aroma.
